I was recently in a Facebook group conversation and was asked if I could show other Etsy sellers how to set up Google Analytics for their Etsy shops. It’s a very simple process, so I figured why not? So, here are some screenshots that show you step by step how to do it. If you have any questions or you can’t get it to work, please feel free to contact me!
STEP 1: Of course, you’ll need to login to your Google Analytics account. From your dashboard, you’ll want to click on ‘Admin’ in the bottom left-hand corner.
STEP 2: On the next screen, you’ll see ‘Create Account’.
STEP 3: There are a few different text boxes you need to fill in with your information.
STEP 4: Click on ‘Get Tracking ID’.
STEP 5: A screen will pop up, asking you to accept the terms and conditions.
STEP 6: The system will generate a Tracking ID for you. You’ll want to copy and paste this ID into your Etsy account (that will be shown in step 7).
STEP 7: Login to your Etsy account, go to your Dashboard, and click on ‘Settings’.
STEP 8: In the Settings menu, click on ‘Options’.
STEP 9: Next, click on ‘Web Analytics’.
STEP 10: Paste the Tracking ID (from step 6) into the box that says ‘Web Property ID’ and click ‘Save’.
STEP 11: You’re all set! It can take 24 – 48 hours for your Google Analytics to be updated. Whenever you want to check the stats, just go to your Google Analytics account.
